The SDO spacecraft rolled out of the Astrotech payload processing facility at 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 26. It arrived at Launch Complex 41 at 5 a.m., and was hoisted atop the Atlas V shortly after 8 a.m. The integrated systems test to verify the electrical connections between SDO and the Atlas V rocket is under way today. The Flight Readiness Review is set for Feb. 5.
The Atlas V will be rolled out from the Vertical Integration Facility to the launch pad for launch at 8 a.m., on Feb. 8. The countdown will begin at 3:30 a.m., on Feb. 9.
Spacecraft: Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES-P)
Launch Vehicle: Delta IV
Launch Pad: Complex 37, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla
Launch Date: March 1, 2010
Launch Window: 6:19 – 7:19 p.m. EST
At the Astrotech payload processing facility, work on the GOES-P spacecraft continues to go well. A spacecraft countdown procedure rehearsal for launch was successfully conducted on Jan. 19.
The satellite currently is being fueled with the propellant necessary for orbit maneuvers and the attitude control system. Once this is completed, the spacecraft will be mated to the payload attach fitting on Feb. 1. Encapsulation into the Delta IV payload fairing in preparation for transport to the launch pad is scheduled for Feb. 5.
At Launch Complex 37, the wet countdown dress rehearsal with the rocket fully fueled is currently scheduled to be conducted on Feb. 8. GOES-P will then arrive at the launch pad Feb. 13.
GOES-P, to be launched for NASA and NOAA, is a United Launch Alliance commercial launch for Boeing Launch Services under a Federal Aviation Administration license.
