Our courses are based on our firsthand experience with pressure vessel testing and analysis developed since the inception of the technology in the 1970s. We have a specific focus on mechanical damage, stress rupture, damage tolerance, and propellant/fuel exposure effects on pressure vessels built using graphite/epoxy (Gr/Ep) composite filament wound onto metallic liners.

White Sands Test Facility is uniquely qualified to teach many industry accepted qualification courses, which are developed primarily as a result of the successful completion of the joint USAF/NASA Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel (COPV) Program. Additionally, data from multiple DOT and NAVY commercial space programs have been incorporated into our training.

The COPV Damage Detection Course has been taught since 1999. It has trained over 1,200 Aerospace, NAVY, manufacturer, and DOT personnel giving them the ability to detect mechanical damage to COPVs.
