NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 Secured Inside Dragon Spacecraft, Ready for Hatch Closure

Four astronauts in a spacecraft.
NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov run through prelaunch checks in their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft ahead NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission launch to the International Space Station on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026.

Teams have completed several milestones since the Crew-13 cadre entered the spacecraft, including conducting communication checks between Dragon and mission control, inspecting the crew’s spacesuits for any leaks, and rotating seats into a reclined position for launch. Once the “all clear” is given, the SpaceX pad support team will close Dragon’s side hatch.

After liftoff at 11:10 a.m. EDT, it will take the four-person crew just under 8 hours to rendezvous and dock at approximately 7 p.m. to the orbiting laboratory, making it the fastest launch-to-docking for a U.S. spacecraft in the history of the International Space Station.

Once they arrive, 11 crew members representing NASA, CSA (Canadian Space Agency), ESA (European Space Agency), and Roscosmos will be aboard the space station
