This page hosts a growing collection of authentic sounds recorded during NASA’s Artemis campaign as humanity returns to the Moon. All audio files are free to download and cleared for use in accordance with NASA’s media usage guidelines. This library will be updated regularly as new mission audio becomes available.

Teams across NASA are documenting the Artemis campaign by recording mission activity, including interviews with subject matter experts, and behind-the-scenes recordings during launches, testing, and operations. These recordings are shared publicly to support transparency, public understanding, and creative reuse.

Artemis II Splashdown

The crew successfully completed a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego on April 10, 2026. These audio clips are from NASA’s live broadcast of splashdown coverage

Artemis II Lunar Flyby

On April 6, 2026, the Artemis II crew embarked on a lunar flyby — the first crewed lunar flyby in over 50 years. The astronauts recorded scientific observations of the Moon, experienced a solar eclipse from their Orion spacecraft as the Moon fully eclipsed the Sun, and felt a lot of Moon Joy. Artemis II In-Flight

The Artemis II flight lasted about ten days between when the four astronauts launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center until when they splashed down in the Pacific Ocean. Artemis II Launch Demonstration Test

The following audio clips are from the Launch Demonstration Test (ISVV-1A) that took place on Sept. 20, 2023. The Artemis II crew practiced putting on their Orion Crew Survival System spacesuits in crew quarters at Kennedy’s Neil Armstrong Operations and traveling to the launch pad.

Artemis I

Artemis I was the first integrated flight test of the deep space exploration systems needed to build the capabilities for long-duration lunar missions. The uncrewed Orion spacecraft launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Nov. 16, 2022, flew around the Moon, and splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on Dec. 11, 2022.
