
Steven Velotas
Deputy Director for Projects, Aeronautics Research at NASA’s Langley Research Center
Steven Velotas is the Deputy Director for Projects in the Aeronautics Research Directorate at NASA’s Langley Research Center. He is responsible for execution and oversight of aeronautics programs and projects conducting research and technology development for the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate. Prior to this, Steve served in numerous leadership roles within NASA, including Associate Director for Intelligent Flight Systems, Langley Transformation Portfolio Manager, Head of the Crew Systems and Aviation Operations Branch, and Deputy Project Manager for two Airspace Systems projects. Before joining NASA, Steve was the Director of Operations for AeroTech Research Inc.; was a lead Systems Analyst for SAIC within the United States Joint Forces Command’s Joint Battle Center; and served as a Naval Flight Officer on E-2C Hawkeye command and control aircraft with the U.S. Navy. Steve holds an M.B.A. in Information Systems from Old Dominion University and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
