Members of NASA’s 2004 astronaut candidate class view a Space Shuttle Main Engine test today at Stennis Space Center (SSC). The candidates are touring NASA’s 10 centers to become familiar with ongoing research and exploration programs at each site. NASA’s group of astronaut candidates includes three classroom teachers, military pilots, engineers and scientists, as well as three astronauts from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. All Space Shuttle Main Engines are tested and proven flight- worthy at SSC in South Mississippi.
