The second South Pole TDRSS Relay 2 (SPTR-2) antenna became operational. SPTR-2 is visible to any first generation TDRS spacecraft because the antenna is fully steerable, unlike its predecessor. The antenna provides year-round connectivity several hours a day between the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station and the continental US.
