CAMP2Ex Science Team Meeting

ESPO hosted a virtual science team meeting over three days for the CAMP2Ex (Cloud and Aerosol Monsoonal Processes – Philippines Experiment) Mission.

132 attendees from the United States, Philippines, and as far away as Australia connected to discuss results from the campaign. This virtual meeting used the Webex Training platform for the 46 presentations and breakout rooms discussions. The in-person meeting has been rescheduled to next spring.

NDACC Steering Committee Meeting

The NDACC (Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change) Steering Committee virtual meeting, supported by ESPO , was in lieu of an in-person meeting planned in Virginia (rescheduled to next fall). The virtual meeting started at 7 AM PT on two days and 3 AM PT on one day to accommodate 56 attendees from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Indigenous Mapping Workshop (IMW 2020)

The Indigenous Peoples Capacity Building Initiative, led by Cindy Schmidt and Amber McCullum, will participate in the Indigenous Mapping Workshop (IMW 2020) held online.

This workshop aims to bring together over 800 indigenous scholars and managers for multi-day trainings on geospatial technologies. This is the first online IMW and is the first time that remote sensing with NASA data will be on the agenda. They will be teaching nine sessions on NASA data, vegetation indices, change detection, drought, wildfire management, and more.

The 2nd NOAA Workshop on Leveraging AI in Environmental Sciences – Virtual Conference

Ata Akbari Asanjan participated in the 2nd NOAA workshop on Leveraging AI in Environmental Sciences.

He presented his poster on 29 September 2020 with the title “Fine-Delineated Tropical Cyclone Detection from Geostationary Satellites and IBTrACS data using Advanced Neural Networks”. The workshop is specialized in applications of AI and machine learning in Environmental sciences and participants were mainly from universities, federal agencies (NOAA, NASA).
