This collection of activities is based on a weekly series of space science problems distributed to thousands of teachers during the 2013-2014 school year. The problems were created to be glimpses of authentic modern science and engineering issues. Some problems include actual research data. Some of the problems are divided into themes based on NASA missions and outreach programs: Student Cloud Observations OnLine (S’COOL), History of Winter, Stratospheric Aerosol Gas Experiment (SAGE-III), and Van Allen Belt Probes. The remaining problems pertain to gravity, rockets and spacecraft, objects in the solar system, stars, and telescopes. Mathematical topics include algebra, geometry and calculus.
Each word problem has background information. One-page teacher answer keys accompany the assignments.
