CSBF assists universities, NASA facilities and international institutions in planning balloon missions that meet the approved ballooning requirements of the scientific community.
In conjunction with NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, CSBF devises plans for experiments, payload designs and scientific balloon launches to meet the needs of the scientific community and its various groups. These plans include choosing which balloon type will work the best with a group’s specific experiment and identifying how to integrate that experiment into a flyable payload.
