Scott Ede

Scott Ede is the lead mission manager for NASA’s Commercial Program (CCP) at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Texas. He was assigned as NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4 mission manager responsible for all aspects of mission preparation, certification, and execution. In his role as a mission manager, he facilitates collaboration between NASA and commercial providers, oversees mission operations planning, ensures the requirements and processes necessary to conduct a successful flight are in place prior to launch, and monitors the overall mission progress and reports out to the Commercial Crew Program. His previous mission management experience includes assignments as the lead NASA Boeing Orbital Flight Test-2 (OFT-2) mission manager and providing mission support to OFT, as well as the agency’s SpaceX Demo-1, Demo-2, Crew-1, Crew-2, and Crew-3 missions.

Experience

Ede has worked at JSC for 21 years, spending his first eight years as a contractor in the Flight Operations Directorate and the past 13 years with NASA. Before joining CCP, he supported the International Space Station Program as the Visiting Vehicle Integration lead for Progress, Soyuz, HTV, and HTV-X. Ede led the NASA integration of the H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV)-6 and HTV-7 mission, the preliminary design review for HTV-X, multiple Progress and Soyuz launches, and helped lead the joint space station/CCP effort to brief international partners about United States Crew Vehicle (USCV) systems, operations, and safety.     

Awards

A NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal recipient, Ede was honored with the prestigious Space Flight Awareness Award in 2017.
