Rob Maddock received his Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Parks College of St. Louis University in 1992 and his Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Tennessee Space Institute in 1995. In 1996 he joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he worked in mission and trajectory design and systems engineering on several flight projects, including Cassini, the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), and the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL). He also spent over 5 years in the Mars Advanced Studies Office supporting Mars Sample Return mission studies and technology development. In 2005, Rob joined NASA Langley’s Atmospheric Flight and Entry Systems Branch to support Entry, Descent and Landing (EDL) design and systems engineering for MSL. Rob was also the EDL lead for NASA Langley on the Mars Insight Lander mission which successfully landed on Mars in late-2018. Since 2018, Rob has supported the development and delivery of Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) Plume-Surface Interaction sensors and payloads for NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate Game Changing Development Program as a Project Manager in Langley’s Space Technology and Exploration Directorate.
