Kevin Somervill serves as the Deputy Director for Technology Maturation in the Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Technology Maturation portfolio includes industry and NASA-led projects in the Game Changing Development (GCD) program and the Lunar Surface Innovation Initiative (LSII). In his role, Mr. Somervill helps to guide the advancement and infusion of mid-TRL technologies for future space applications.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Somervill supported STMD as the Technical Integration Manager for Extreme Environments guiding technology investments to enable long-term survival and operation in the challenging lunar surface environments.
Mr. Somervill has 20 years of service at NASA, contributing to the development of electronic systems and technology with primary focus on digital systems for space applications. He holds a Master of Engineering from Old Dominion University with an emphasis in Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.
