Environmental Protection Specialist, Spaceport Integration and Services

Patrice Hall is an environmental protection specialist within the Spaceport Integration and Services organization at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In a position held since January 2025, Hall is responsible for assuring environmental programs, studies, and documents at NASA Kennedy comply with federal and state policy actions, regulations, and laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Hall ensures NEPA compliance at NASA Kennedy by monitoring threatened and endangered species and the wetlands they call home, as well as regulating the center’s noise, air, and water quality.

Experience

Prior to Hall’s current position, she held several environmental engineer positions at NASA Kennedy since 2008. She worked at Herndon Solutions from 2020 to 2025, where she served as the NEPA lead and reviewed the center’s environmental checklists submitted by contractors, personnel, and commercial entities for every project and program proposed at NASA Kennedy. Hall ensured compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Air Act, and National Historic Preservation Act, as well as NASA Kennedy environmental policies and procedures.

Hall reviewed excavation permit requests and communicated any environmental issues and requirements to the requestor. She assisted in preparation of the wetland mitigation plan developed for the NASA Causeway Revetment project, Army Corp of Engineers Advanced Ecological Mitigation Plan, and NASA Kennedy Florida Scrub-Jay Compensation Plan, along with the Scrub-Jay Compensation Ledger Database.

Education

Hall received a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She also graduated from Jacksonville University in Florida with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Awards

Hall has received multiple NASA Group Achievement awards for various projects, including dune restoration, as well as the Blue Marble Award from the NASA Environmental Management Division Director’s Environmental and Energy Group.

Personal

A Florida native, Hall currently resides in Merritt Island where she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, boating, attending sporting events, and playing music.
