I am Artemis: Annemarie Gruschke-Lohse

For Airbus in Bremen, Germany, Annemarie Gruschke-Lohse works as the technical authority for consumables on Orion’s European Service Module, helping to ensure that astronauts will have the oxygen, nitrogen and water they need to survive on Artemis missions. Gruschke-Lohse has been part of the European Service Module team for over two years, first as the thrust vector control technical authority, working to make sure that the thrust from the service module’s engines can be controlled to push Orion in the right direction, and now as the technical authority for consumables.

Gruschke-Lohse earned her bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Ravensburg and her master’s degree in space systems engineering at the University of Bremen. Before working with the Orion program, she was a reliability, availability, maintainability and safety engineer for the upper liquid propulsion module of the European launch system Ariane 6. What excites her about Artemis is the unity of international partners. “Artemis is proof that humankind can effectively work together to achieve a common goal,” she said. “And what else would be more exciting than going back to the Moon?”
