Gwendolyn S. Obert
Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Johnson Space Center
Gwendolyn (Gwen) S. Obert is the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Johnson Space Center, a position she assumed in August 2020. In this role, she assists providing leadership for financial planning, reporting and budget execution for the Center and serves in cross-cutting Agency mission support roles.
In 1987, Gwen joined NASA as a secretary for the Mission Operations Directorate and attended college part-time. After completing her degree, she transferred to the Financial Management Division and supported a range of accounting positions. Over the course of her career, she has served in progressively more responsible positions, including Lead of the Agency Centralized Travel Office, Chief of the Financial Services Branch, Deputy of the Financial Management Division, and Deputy CFO for Finance.
Gwen has had several special assignments throughout her career, including:
- NASA College Scholarship Fund Treasurer (2014-2019)
- Associate CFO rotation (2015)
- NASA Employees Benefit Association (NEBA) JSC Chapter Vice President/President (2013 – 2025)
- NEBA Agency Vice Chairman/Chairman (2019 – present)
- OCFO Payroll Process Champion (2020 – present)
- JSC Acting Chief Financial Officer (February 2025 – present)
