Chris Estrada

Chris Estrada began his career with the space program in 1998, supporting the EVA office as a safety representative. He was a key member of the Joint EVA Working Group (JEWG) team. Among many other projects, Estrada worked with the Russian Space Agency to develop a Self-Rescue (SAFER) system for the Russian Spacesuit. He later joined the Russian EVA Support Group and became an expert on the Orlan-M EVA Spacesuit. His experience included EVA hardware development, real-time mission support in both Moscow, Russia and Houston, Texas during Russian EVAs, and astronaut EVA Crew training in Star City, Russia. Estrada obtained his private pilot’s license and has been a flight instructor for many years. 

Estrada holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
