C. Thomas Miller was a project pilot for the Global Hawk remotely piloted aircraft from 2010 to 2018 at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California.

After joining the Armstrong (then Dryden) pilot staff, Miller led a team of pilots during all aspects of Global Hawk development and research flight operations, including training of all NASA and Northrop Grumman pilots who flew the aircraft. He determined training objectives and standards, evaluated aircrew performance, and was a subject-matter expert for development of the ground station and command and control communication system used to fly the aircraft.

Prior to his work at Armstrong, Miller spent seven years as a Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk pilot at Edwards Air Force Base, where he planned and conducted unmanned air vehicle test and operational missions. He previously served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of major.

Miller earned a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and a Master of Science from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. Among military honors he received are the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (1OLC), Aerial Achievement Medal (3OLC), Air Force Commendation Medal (1OLC) and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
