Employee Assistance Program

Employee Assistance Program

NASA’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is based on the Office of Personnel Management’s Work-Life recommendations. In the 1970s, EAP-related legislation passed, requiring EAP as an employee benefit in Federal agencies.

Each Federal Executive Branch agency (including NASA) offers an EAP to its workforce.  The program is voluntary, confidential, and helps employees manage life challenges that may adversely affect job performance, health, and personal well-being.  EAP support includes management consultations and referrals, one-on-one counseling, and providing expertise on unique situations such as grief recovery, stress management, conflict resolution, absenteeism, alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, and response to traumatic events.
