Steven J. Jenkins – NESC Academy Biography

Steven Jenkins is a Principal Engineer in the Systems Engineering and Formulation Division at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology.  He is technical lead for JPL’s initiative on integrated model-centric engineering and serves on the systems engineering team for the Europa Clipper pre-project.

His interests include model-based systems engineering and the application of computer science and formal logic to engineering.

Steven is a 1999 recipient of the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal and a 2013 recipient of the NASA Systems Engineering Excellence Award.  He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from University of California, Los Angeles, an M.S. in applied mathematics from Southern Methodist University, and a B.S. in mathematics from Millsaps College.
