Mack Benn Jr. Elementary Receives NASA Explorer Schools Recognition Award

Mack Benn Jr. Elementary School in Suffolk, Va., is one of 12 NASA Explorer Schools to be identified as an exceptional leader in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in the 2012-2013 school year.

The elementary school received a NASA Explorer Schools Honor Award, which included an American flag that was flown in space and a NASA certificate of recognition.

Awarded schools were chosen by a team of NASA education professionals based on their unique and innovative classroom techniques that incorporated NASA educational STEM content.

The NASA Explorer Schools project aims to inspire and guide future scientists, engineers and technicians that NASA needs to continue its journey.
