Astrophysics from Above Earth

iss057e055500 (October 22, 2018) ---The Neutron Star Interior Composition ExploreR (NICER) X-ray telescope mounted to the exterior of the International Space Station. This X-ray telescope performed in-depth studies of neutron stars, black holes, and other phenomena, offering a wealth of astrophysical knowledge. It also demonstrated the use of galactic pulsars as navigational beacons for future deep-space exploration missions.
