iss066e084306 (November 26, 2021) --- Expedition 66 astronauts are pictured with the first chile peppers grown aboard the International Space Station. Peppers are considered difficult-to-grow crops, taking over 120 days to grow and develop. This investigation is part of ongoing efforts to establish ways to grow nutritious food crops on long-duration space missions. Pictured, from left, are NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hei and Shane Kimbrough, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration) astronaut Aki Hoshide, and NASA astronaut Megan McArthur.
