The PPE protects an astronaut from eye contact with and breathing in any dust or debris that may have dislodged during the spacecraft's ascent to orbit. Bowen poses with a portrait of NASA astronaut Laurel Clark, whom the Cygnus cargo craft is named after, who perished aboard space shuttle Columbia during its return to Earth on Feb. 1, 2003.
