Joshua Fisher Locates a Sensor

Joshua Fisher, an ecologist on the CRATER team, looks up at a trace gas sensor mounted into a tree in Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Costa Rica. Rincon de la Vieja contains an active volcanic system, which passively releases gases through cracks and vents in the Earth's crust called fumaroles. The white haze behind Fisher is these gases and vapors, which NASA's CRATER team set out to measure.
