Masten’s vertical-takeoff, vertical-landing Xombie technology demonstration vehicle rockets skyward during a flight test of Astrobotic Technology’s autonomous landing system. Astrobotic’s system is designed to avoid terrain hazards while safely landing a spacecraft at a specific location on a asteroid, moon or planet. The test flight was sponsored and funded by NASA’s Flight Opportunities Program.
