What makes your job at NASA exciting or unique?
I am especially honored to work in a position that provides support to so many of NASA’s various missions. Communications to me is literally the structural base of mission success at NASA. If you don’t have the ability to communicate with your spacecraft, launch vehicle, instrument or observatory then your mission is over. The unique job of the team I manage is to ensure that NASA’s missions are ready to be successful by ensuring the provision of high-quality telecommunications services.
How does your position contribute to the future Artemis missions?
Networks Integration Management Office (NIMO), being the integrator of all NASA missions to NASA’s Near Earth Network and Space Network, is responsible for ensuring that all of the Artemis telecom services supported through these two networks have been verified with the mission prior to each launch. We support the Artemis mission in ensuring their readiness through a very rigorous integration campaign that includes requirements development, requirements verification, testing, as well as on console launch support and flight ops support. In addition to supporting Artemis NIMO also supports a multitude of other NASA, Other Government Agency, Commercial, and International Missions.
What’s your favorite thing about working for NASA?
My dream was to work for NASA when I was growing up. The best part of my job is knowing that I am making what I believe to be a significant contribution to advancements in space exploration every day.
