Three of the 18 James Webb Space Telescope’s primary mirrors arrived at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. on Aug. 19, 2013. Engineers inspect the mirrors before they are assembled into the entire Optical Telescope Element and the Integrated Science Instrument Module. Combined these parts will undergo acoustic and vibration tests to prepare them for liftoff into space.
