NASA ended the most rigorous test yet conducted of a super pressure balloon at 11:03 p.m. EDT April 27 after 32 days, 5 hours of flight. Controllers detected a leak developing in the balloon and for safety, issued flight termination commands, ending the balloon’s flight over a remote area near the Queensland and New South Wales border just east of Australia’s Sturt National Park.
