Title: SR-71 Mach 3+ (worm logo)
Designer: Unknown
Year it was designed: circa 1990
Explanation or story behind the patch: When the USAF decided to retire the last four flyable SR-71 aircraft, NASA stepped up to maintain and continue flying the aircraft. This patch was an early NASA patch for that project, to find experiments that could benefit from the “near space” environment the aircraft was capable of flying in. Steve Schmidt was the Project manager for most of the SR-71 project.
