Explanation or story behind the patch: The Remotely Operated Sensor System (ROSS) was an advanced technology demonstration sponsored by Northrop Grumman Corporation, AeroVironment, and NASA, with additional funding by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft was selected as a testbed and modified at Northrop Grumman’s fight test facility at Mojave. A total of 14 flights took place from June 1996 to June 1997.
