NASA Student Airborne Research Program interns pose for a group shot in front of the NASA C-23 Sherpa between science flights during the 2017 summer program.
NASA’s Student Airborne Research Program (SARP), now in its ninth year, provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate students majoring in science, mathematics or engineering fields to participate in a NASA airborne science research campaign. Students use the aircraft as high-altitude platforms for making observations, gathering remote-sensing data, as well as directly sampling the air where the plane is flying. NASA uses airborne data coupled with global satellite observations as well as ground-based data for a better understanding of the complete Earth system.
