The Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS) contract was awarded. The ground segment of the Space Network needed to be upgraded due to obsolete parts and growing maintenance costs. Replacing equipment with more efficient equipment will drive down maintenance costs and improve the system. Upgrades are expected to be completed in 2017.
