The first U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III lifts off Runway 22L at Edwards Air Force Base April 23 on its way to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The focus of C-17 developmental flight testing for the Air Force and aeronautical research for NASA over its 21-year lifespan, the C-17 “T-1” test aircraft was being retired and became part of the permanent collection at the National Museum of the Air Force.April 23, 2012
