Join the Crew-1 Virtual NASA Social to Experience the First Commercial Crew Rotation Mission

Social media users are invited to register to take part in another global virtual NASA Social for our SpaceX Crew-1 mission launching on Nov. 14 at 7:49 p.m. EST. This launch will mark the first crew rotation mission with four astronauts flying on a commercial spacecraft, and the first including an international partner.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will launch Crew Dragon, with NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker, and Soichi Noguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) aboard the spacecraft, from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Crew-1 astronauts named the spacecraft Resilience, highlighting the dedication that teams involved with the mission have displayed and demonstrating that when we work together, there is no limit to what we can achieve.

If your passion is to communicate and engage the world via social media, then this is the event for you! Seize the opportunity to blog, tweet, Instagram or simply share everything about the Crew-1 mission.

While we cannot invite the public onsite for one of our usual NASA Social events, we are excited to present an opportunity for people of all ages from all around the world to participate in.

NASA Social participants will have the opportunity to

  • Connect virtually with a community of people excited about the #LaunchAmerica mission
  • Interact with NASA representatives in real time
  • Obtain your own NASA Social badge to share
  • Learn more about the mission
  • Learn how to host a virtual launch party

The NASA Social event page will open on Nov. 2 and everyone is invited to join by selecting the “Going” button. Please note by attending the virtual event, you are explicitly agreeing to a set of rules/guidelines and anyone who breaks these rules may be banned from the event page.

All resources, participation, and registration are FREE. Register below to let NASA know that you’re virtually participating!

What if I don’t have a Facebook account?
If you don’t have a Facebook account, you’re welcomed to watch and participate in the launch by tuning in on Nov. 14 for the launch broadcast. You can watch live on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Daily Motion, Twitch or NASA TV.

What if the launch date changes?
Hundreds of different factors can cause a scheduled launch date to change multiple times. If the launch date changes prior, NASA may adjust the date of the NASA Social accordingly to coincide with the new target launch date. NASA will notify registrants of any changes on the Facebook event page.

If the launch is postponed, attendees will be able to watch the launch at a later date on the Facebook event page.

Could I get email updates about the launch instead?
You can! If you’d prefer to follow-along via email rather than social, you can register here
