The 26-meter (85-foot) antenna shown here in the background became known as the “Apollo Antenna” because of its historic role during the Apollo 11 mission. The antenna operated in Fresnedillas, Spain from 1967 until 1984 when it was moved to the Deep Space Network (DSN) station in Robledo de Chavela, Spain. The antennas in the foreground are hybrid antennas which assisted in the Apollo-Soyuz mission in 1975.
