About
Dr. Snorre Stamnes is an expert in polarized radiative transfer and optimal estimation. Dr. Stamnes developed the Microphysical Aerosol Properties from Polarimetry (MAPP) algorithm, the operational polarimetric aerosol and ocean remote sensing retrieval algorithm for the Research Scanning Polarimeter (RSP). Dr. Stamnes is a member of the PACE Science and Applications Team to apply the MAPP algorithm to the SPEXone and HARP2 polarimeters onboard PACE. Dr. Stamnes also developed a joint lidar and polarimeter aerosol and ocean/land retrieval algorithm as a member of the Science Impact Team for Aerosols for the future NASA Atmosphere Observing System (AOS) mission.
