Biography

Rebecca has recently graduated from the University of Winnipeg where she achieved her Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, with honors. Her honors thesis is titled “Sourcing the origins of excess sulfate in Dead Horse Creek, Manitoba, Canada” where isotope tracing was used to determine the contributions of sulfate to the waterway. She has also worked on identifying the spectral properties of shocked and unshocked granites and carbonates from the Lake St. Martin impact structure near Gypsumville, Manitoba, a Mars analogue site. This study looked specifically at how this research can help to identify possible granites and carbonates on Mars. Rebecca will be attending The University of Western Ontario in the fall to begin her M.Sc. degree in geology. She has experience with subarctic fieldwork in Churchill Manitoba and looks forward to returning to the subarctic to study the Clearwater impact structure.
