Maureen Kudlac

Deputy Director (Acting), Advanced Air Vehicles Program

Maureen Kudlac is the acting deputy director for the Advanced Air Vehicle Program (AAVP) within the Aeronautics Research Mission Ditectorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC. In collaboration with the program director, Kudlac supports the overall planning, management, and evaluation of NASA’s advanced air vehicle research portfolio across four research centers.

Prior to her acting deputy director role, Maureen served as the Associate Director for Capabilities providing a strategic and integrated look at capabilities (facilities, workforce, and high-end computing) across all four research centers relative to the AAVP mission. In this capacity, she has represented the program in the Aeronautics Capabilities Leadership Team alongside representatives of the other ARMD programs. In addition, Maureen has also represented ARMD at the AETC Aerosciences Testing Advisory Board alongside counterparts from other mission directorates. Prior to joining the program office, Maureen played key project management roles in both the Hypersonic Technology Project and the Commercial Supersonics Technology Project.

Additionally, Maureen has a strong background in engineering, research, and project management for both the aeronautics and space sides of NASA. Prior to working in ARMD, Maureen was responsible for systems designs for a variety of flight and ground based systems. She also spent several years conducting cryogenic research and development including extensive testing with liquid hydrogen. She joined ARMD in 2014.

Maureen received her bachelor’s from the University of Detroit and a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, both in Chemical Engineering.
