FAIRMONT – Even as we spend another Earth Day socially distanced, the Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation Facility (IV&V) is highlighting how we are connected by Earth.
During Earth Week, the IV&V Program asked team members and those in our community to share their favorite pieces of Earth via social media as a local iteration of NASA’s Earth Day 2021 celebrations.
Through the week, we have shared some of our employees’ photos and memories highlighting beautiful spots in West Virginia and have asked followers on social media to join in and celebrate Earth Day with us.
From Fairmont backyards to wildlife in Braxton County and West Virginia tourist spots, several NASA IV&V employees and folks in the community have participated to represent West Virginia in NASA-wide efforts to highlight how we are #ConnectedbyEarth. Across IV&V Program social media platforms, hundreds of users liked and shared, and several shared their own #ConnectedbyEarth posts to take part.
“Each of us is part of the gorgeous mosaic of Earth, and on this Earth Day, NASA is asking people around the world to share their pieces of our planetary masterpiece to celebrate how we are all #ConnectedByEarth,”the agency said in a statement. “While we are all connected to each other as Earthlings, sharing this tiny, blue ecosystem in space, we are also connected to the planet itself and it, in turn, back to us.”
