NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone Garrison, both on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, will ring in the festive season Dec. 1 with a pair of holiday tree-lighting ceremonies. Members of the Huntsville-area news media are invited to attend.
Marshall Director Todd May will preside over the NASA field center’s celebration from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in front of Building 4200 on Rideout Road. Marshall is scheduled to light its tree at approximately 5 p.m.
Team Redstone’s event at the Summit conference center, Building 130 on Golf Course Road, will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. Garrison Commander Col. Tom Holliday will oversee the Redstone tree-lighting at approximately 5:40 p.m.
Both events will include a jolly visitor from the North Pole and holiday-themed treats. Marshall’s event will include a musical performance by children from the Marshall Child Development Center. Redstone’s event will include arts and crafts projects for children, prize giveaways and a drop-off site for the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots campaign.

Media planning to arrive in time for the Marshall tree-lighting should report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Research Park Boulevard, by 3:45 p.m., Dec. 1. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need photo identification and proof of car insurance.
