NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center is partnering with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Antelope Valley chapter, to celebrate the Apollo 50th anniversary event called Small Steps to Giant Leaps. This event is held to honor this historic moment in time when mankind first landed on the moon, and also looks forward to the future of space exploration with NASA’s Artemis program.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Eastside High School, 3200 E Ave., J-8 Lancaster, California.

This STEM-focused family event will feature Apollo-Soyuz astronaut Vance Brand as the keynote speaker. Brand will share a special presentation on his space exploration and time with NASA, followed by a question and answer session.

Larry Cliatt, a NASA engineer, will also present his talk in sonic boom flight research and what NASA is doing to fix the sound barrier.

STEM displays and activities will be featured throughout the event for families to learn more about Armstrong’s current projects and encourage the next generation of explorers into science, technology, engineering and math.
