NASA Awards Mission Operations Support Contract

NASA has awarded a nine-year contract to Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT), Inc., Greenbelt, Maryland, to provide mission and flight crew operations support for the International Space Station and future human space exploration.

The maximum value of this single award, cost-plus-award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract is $1.3 billion. The contract award begins Oct. 1. There are two, two-year options that could extend the contract through Sept. 30, 2023. This contract includes a firm-fixed price 61-day phase-in period beginning Aug. 1.

The Integrated Mission Operations Contract II (IMOC II) provides support and products for spaceflight operations capability development and execution for the Mission Operations Directorate, the International Space Station Program – including the Avionics and Software Office, and the Flight Crew Operations Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

This includes support to mission preparation, crew, flight controller, instructor, and analyst training, as well as real-time mission execution activities related to exploration operations and space station operations.

Operations capability development support is required as NASA defines requirements associated with the emerging options for the exploration initiatives and potential new programs, including – but not limited to – the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle Program, the Space Launch Systems Program, the Lunar Precursor Robotics Program, the Human Research Program, the Exploration Technology Program, the Commercial Crew Program, commercial cargo, and advanced technology and research.

Significant subcontractors to SGT, Inc., are Lockheed Martin Corporation’s LMSI Segment – Information Systems & Global Solutions, Gaithersburg, Maryland; GHG Corporation, Webster, Texas; GeoControl Systems, Inc., Houston; and Cimarron Software Services, Inc., Houston.
