NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility supported the launch of two suborbital sounding rockets Oct. 26 and 27, 2022, for the Navy Strategic Systems Programs and the Army Hypersonic Program Office.

The High Operational Tempo for Hypersonics flight campaign was executed by Sandia National Laboratories. The test results will be used to inform the Department of Defense’s accelerated fielding of hypersonic systems, including the development of the Navy’s Conventional Prompt Strike and the Army’s Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon hypersonic strike capabilities.

The next rocket launch from Wallops is Northrop Grumman’s Antares rocket with its Cygnus spacecraft carrying cargo bound for the International Space Station scheduled for Nov. 6, 2022.
