Juan Torres-Pérez Points to Bleaching Staghorn Coral
NASA Ames research scientist and coral expert Juan Torres-Pérez points at bleaching spots on a clump of staghorn coral (Acropora cervicornis) in the waters of Punta Soldado, Puerto Rico. The rest of the coral colony shows encrusting Ramicrusta algae, and a few colonies of branching finger coral (Porites furcate, bottom left).
