Astronauts wear eye-protecting specs in anticipation of the solar eclipse

iss070e129908 (March 26, 2024) Five NASA astronauts, from left to right, Jeanette Epps, Tracy C. Dyson, Mike Barratt, Loral O’Hara, and Matthew Dominick, don eye-protecting specs to view a solar eclipse from the International Space Station's cupola. Viewing an eclipse from space is a unique opportunity to capture images of solar events in ways not possible on the ground. Expedition 71 produced over 630,000 images, the most taken during a single mission. Their captures will enter a database of astronaut photography of Earth that helps researchers understand our planet over time.
