
Cosigüina Volcano in northwestern Nicaragua
iss074e0312817 (Feb. 10, 2026) --- Cosigüina Volcano—a geologically young volcano, several thousand years old, with its last major eruption occurring in 1835—sits where the Gulf of Fonseca meets the Pacific Ocean in northwestern Nicaragua. The International Space Station was orbiting 261 miles above Central America when this photograph was taken.
