Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) is pictured seemingly above Earth’s atmosphere

iss072e007238 (Oct. 1, 2024) --- The non-periodic Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) is pictured seemingly above Earth's atmosphere though it was actually about 235 million miles away and heading for a trip around the Sun. The International Space Station was orbiting 272 miles above the southern Atlantic Ocean in between the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands at the time of this photograph.
