The interior of NASA’s DC-8 flying laboratory was loaded with instruments bound for the Antarctic during the fall 2009 Operation IceBridge mission, part of a multi-year study that tracked changes in Antarctica’s sea ice, glaciers, and ice sheets. The DC-8 carried scientists and their instruments on 17 lengthy flights over Antarctica from a base at Punta Arenas, Chile, during the six-week campaign.September 29, 2009
