Principal investigator Jim Murray prepares the towline while operations engineer Red Jensen checks out the radio controller for a sub-scale sailplane prior to the initial flight tests of the ability of a remotely or autonomously controlled unmanned aircraft to tow another unmanned aircraft into the air. The tests were intended to validate systems and procedures and reduce risk en route to a full-scale demonstration of the innovative Towed Glider Air-Launch Concept.
